A rescued pet will never forget!

Adopting a pet in need rather than buying from a breeder helps eliminate homeless pets being put to sleep. Below is a list of local rescue organizations to help you find anything from a rat to a great dane. Please consider contacting one of these rescues to add a homeless pet to your home!

DOGS 

Arizona Greyhound Rescue (AzGR)- Local rescue dedicated to rehabilitating the retired greyhounds off the track and placing them in permanent homes.

Rescue a Golden (RAG of AZ)- Phoenix based rescue for golden retrievers. Pantano sees a lot of the Tucson foster goldens.

Basset Hound Rescue of AZ- Arizona rescue that rescues and adopts out Basset Hounds.

Beagle Rescue of AZ- Rescues and adopts out Beagles. We work with Beagle rescue to care for their canines.

Flat Coated Retriever Society of America (FCRSA)- National rescue for the rare flat-coated retriever.

AZ Keeshond Rescue- Rescue dedicated to the pure bred Keeshond.

People Assisting Kindred Spirits (PAKS)- New rescue that rescues and adopts out dogs in need.

Adopt A Bull- Rescue primarily for pit bulls, Am Staff Terriers, Mastiffs and other big muscle breeds.

Southern Az Boxer Rescue- Rescues and adopts out pure bred boxers.

Arizona Border Collie Rescue-  Places purebred Border Collies in appropriate homes.

Dogs & Cats

Pima Animal Care Center (PACC)- Animal control center that adopts out animals after being quarantined. *This is not a "no-kill" facility*

Foundation for Animal In Risk (FAIR)- Rescue cats and dogs. Check out Petsmart's / Petco's on the weekends for adoptable animals.

Caring Animal Rescue Education (CARE)- Rescues dogs and cats.

Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE)- Organization helps solve the over population of dogs / cats and stop euthanasia of adoptable pets.

Animal Crusaders- Primarily works with local Native American reservations to provide homes for stray adoptable animals found, neuter / spay clinics and tick / flea dips.

Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF)- Works with Pima Animal Care Center to adopt out pets in need and educate the general population about fixing your pets and general care.

Humane Society of Southern AZ- Tucson's Humane society offers cats, dogs and the occasional exotic for adoption.  *This is not a "no-kill facility*

Cats                   

Hermitage No Kill Cat Shelter- A local no-kill cat shelter.

Friends of Alley Cats of Tucson (FACT)- Cat shelter with a feral cat program that adopts out cats and tries to stop feral/stray cats from breeding.

Casas De Los Gatos-  A new cat-only no-kill rescue organization. 

Horses & Dogs       

Unconditional Love Foundation- Rescues and rehabilitates homeless dogs and horses on their ranch like facility. Located in Marana

Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary- Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 tax -exempt  organization dedicated to saving Premarin (PMU) mares and foals from slaughter.

Exotics (rats, pigs, ferrets, birds, etc...)

Ironwood Pig Sanctuary- Marana based pig sanctuary that adopts out pot-bellied pigs and fosters them.

East Valley Bunny Rescue- rabbit rescue located in Mesa.

Any Rat Rescue- Rat rescue in Glendale that cares for and adopts out rats.

Pigpalooza, guinea pig and small animal rescue- Phoenix rescue that specializes in rescuing and small animals, especially guinea pigs.

Ferret Friends of Tucson- Tucson ferret rescue.

Tucson Avian Rescue & Adoption Foundation (TARA)- Tucson rescue that adopts out birds and provides bird education classes.

Avian Haven- Tucson rescue that specializes in birds.
