Vaccinations

The latest on vaccines...

New articles have recently been published suggesting that vaccines may not need to be given yearly as was previously thought.  Major vaccine manufacturers are now conducting research studies to determine just how long vaccines may last.  At Pantano Animal Clinic, we are now currently assessing each pet's risk prior to vaccinating.  We promise to stay current on the recommended vaccine protocols and keep you informed.  In the meantime, we will discuss what protocol is best for your pet at each visit.

Puppies and kittens are required to go through their vaccine series to prevent diseases like parvo, rabies, feline leukemia and distemper. When you bring your young pet to us we will set you up on a vaccine series and let you know what your pet will require.

For adult pets we take into consideration any history of vaccine reaction or allergy so vaccine visits don't become emergency visits. If the doctors feels your pet can receive their annual vaccines every 2 or 3 years we will gladly contact any boarding facility/doggie day care/dog trainer you may do business with to discuss your pets vaccines. We also can provide vaccine titers which check how well your pet has built up an immunity to a certain diseases. Pima County still requires your cats/dogs be vaccinated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian and should be kept current.

For the senior pet we do consider their age and health. While performing your pet's biannual exam our veterinarians can assess how to plan their vaccines or if a titer check is required.

For more information regarding vaccines and titers please consult one of our veterinarians!
